Morus Mojo Berry is a new variety of dwarf Mulberry that is covered in a profusion of pretty white blooms in May and June followed by a succession of succulent berries continuously from July until November, colouring from ruby red to glossy black.
The Mojo Berry (Morus rotundiloba) is a unique selection of mulberry, developed over many years, and we’re delighted to be able to offer this unusual fruit tree to the home gardener, bringing the delights of the sweet, juicy mulberry to everyone!
Winner of the Plant of the Year Award at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2017, this compact and robust fruit tree grows to a height of just 125cm and is perfect in your favourite pot on the patio, or to bring something a little different to a mixed border.
Easy to grow, and the ideal fruit tree for beginner gardeners, the Mojoberry is self-pollinating and fruits are produced on both new and old wood, even within the first year, so you’re guaranteed lots of sweet, juicy berries – great to use for jam making, baking and in other dishes.
Supplied as an established plant in a 2L pot, ready to be planted out.
Care Information
- Prepare the ground well before planting, removing all weeds and incorporating well-rotted compost or manure.
- Reliably self-fertile, so you only need one tree, plant ‘Mojo Berry’ in a fertile, well-drained soil in a place in the sun.
- Water your potted plant well.
- Dig a hole a little deeper and 3 x wider than the nursery pot.
- Add a soil conditioner such as well-rotted manure to the earth removed from the hole if necessary.
- Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
- Place your plant in the hole at the same level as the pot. Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
- Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the rootball.
- Water well and mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel or bark.
- Can be pruned lightly in late winter to remove any dead, diseased or damaged branches.
